Yoga therapy incorporates the many techniques of yoga to help move an individual toward healing and well-being on a physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual level. Some of the tools used are movement (asana) to provide strength, balance, and flexibility to the body, breath work (pranayama) to help regulate the nervous system, and meditation/mindfulness to promote calm and clarity in the mind and body.
A certified yoga therapist is equipped to assess each client on an individual basis. Using that assessment, the yoga therapist can provide a unique and individualized plan-of-care. According to research cited at yogatherapy.health, diagnoses such as mental health, arthritis, cancer, cardiovascular health, chronic pain, and many others may benefit from yoga therapy as an adjunct therapy. Yoga Therapy is also beneficial for maintaining an overall state of well-being.

Yoga based practices have been proven effective as complementary therapy for anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, and other mental conditions and stress disorders (Vancampfort et al., 2021).
Recent studies suggest that yoga-based practices may reduce stress and increase grey matter in the brain regions related to emotional regulation, learning, and memory (Vancampfort et al., 2021).
Breathing practices can help calm the nervous system, sustain attention, and regulate stress (Schmalzl et al., 2018).
